The former estate was donated to the Long Island State Park Region by Mrs. Bayard Cutting in honor of her husband, William Bayard Cutting, “to provide an oasis of beauty…” The Arboretum, known as a “museum of trees,” was designed by the famous architect, Frederick Law Olmstead in 1887. There is something here for everyone; children’s activities, art exhibits, a farm, gift shop, and the charming, Hidden Oak Café located inside the Manor House.
